Become skilled in meeting exacting standards of personal presentation.
Boat work
Develop and maintain safe seamanship skills in power, sail, oar and paddle craft.
Rigging
Learn the correct way to utilise ropes and pulleys.
Survival skills
Gain the skills to survive on land and water.
First Aid
Know how to look after yourself and your team in the area of First Aid.
General Service Knowledge
Gain knowledge about the Royal New Zealand Navy, its ships and equipment, what it offers and how it assists New Zealanders.
Instructional techniques
Develop skills in passing on knowledge to other Cadets.
Navigation
Find you way around harbours and the open coast.
Firearms training and marksmanship
Become skilled in safe firearms handling and competition shooting.
Leadership
Develop the skills to lead others.
Radio procedures
Gain and practice correct military procedures when using radios.
Citizenship training
Acquire status from serving others.
Recreational training
Achieve skills in a wide range of recreational activities. These could include such activities as sailing, abseiling, canoeing, climbing and caving. Contact your Unit Officers for specific training opportunities.
Day Skipper
You get the opportunity to qualify on this Royal New Zealand Coast Guard qualification.
Boat Master
You get the opportunity to qualify on this RNZ Coast Guard advanced qualification.
Engine maintenance
Develop skills in maintaining inboard and outboard motors.
