Welcome Return for Navy Tanker

HMNZS ENDEAVOUR during manoeuvring exercises off the east coast of Australia last week, with HMAS TOBRUK in the distance.

3 August

The 50 Officers and sailors of HMNZS ENDEAVOUR will welcome the sight of the Sky Tower on Friday 5 August as they return to Auckland after five months sailing the seas of South East Asia and Australia.

Maritime Component Commander, Commodore Jack Steer said he was pleased with the way that the ship has contributed to the profile of New Zealand and the New Zealand Defence Force.  “ENDEAVOUR’s deployment was highly successful.  It included the first official visit to Russia by the New Zealand Defence Force, representing New Zealand at the Aichi World Expo in Japan, and conducting a diplomatic visit to Shanghai, China as well as several operational exercises in Australian and Singaporean waters.”

“HMNZS ENDEAVOUR and her crew showed typical New Zealand versatility, rapidly transitioning from combined training exercises with our allies in the region to diplomacy and back again.”
