Servicemen and women from the Navy, Army and Air Force clash of the courts

The 2005 New Zealand Defence Force Interservice Basketball Tournament will have servicemen and women from the Navy, Army and Air Force compete over a three day period for the chance to stand on the winners podium.  The Interservice Basketball Tournament is an annual sports event hosted on a rolling basis by an individual New Zealand Defence Force Service. 

The Navy will host this years tournament to be held at the Fleet Gymnasium, Devonport Naval Base from Tuesday 14 June to Thursday 16 June  2005.  Teams to represent the New Zealand Defence Force will be announced on completion of the tournament.

Not only is professional pride and loyalty to each individual service at stake, there are four trophies up for grabs along with the chance to represent the New Zealand Defence Force at a tournament later in the year.   

The seedings for the tournament have the Army (Men) and AirForce (Women) placed in the Number One spot, so the challenge is on.

Invitation to the Media

Media are welcome to attend the above tournament to be held at the Fleet Gymnasium, Devonport Naval Base from Tuesday 14 June – Thursday 16 June 2005 – entrance for the gymnasium is off Jim Titchener Drive, Devonport.  Please inform Lieutenant Commander Barbara Cassin if you wish to attend.
