Navy participates in Waitangi Commemorations

The Navy is continuing its proud history of playing a major part in the commemorative ceremonies at Waitangi, a tradition they have enjoyed for over 50 years.
HMNZS TE MANA will anchor off Waitangi from 5 – 6 February and will fire a 21 Gun Salute on at 1200 on Waitangi Day.
The Navy Band and Navy Maori Cultural Group, Te Reo Heremana, will be onsite from 4 February performing at several venues around the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and surrounding areas, the Navy Mobile Display Unit will be on-site for the duration and naval personnel have been invited to join the waka crews. Ceremonial occasions include a flag lowering ceremony.
Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral David Ledson, will be attending the commemorations.
