Navy Divisions
Divisions were held on the Ngataringa Sports Fields on 22 January with units from the Fleet and Naval Support Command on parade. His Excellency the Governor-General, the Honourable Sir Anand Satyanand GNZM, QSO, was the Reviewing Officer. His Excellency was accompanied by LT Sandra Dron RNZN, ADC, and Mr Rob Taylor, the Official Secretary.
Also attending the Parade were the Hon Heather Roy, the Associate Minister of Defence, and Andrew Williams Mayor of North Shore City, along with Inspector Les Paterson of the NZ Police. Many friends and families were also there to view the parade. On completion of Divisions, His Excellency joined officers, sailors and their families for morning tea where he made two additional presentations, before attending a formal luncheon in the PHILOMEL Wardroom.
During the parade the annual fleet trophies were presented, recognising high performance during 2009.
- The MONOWAI Trophy for Operational Excellence; awarded to HMNZS CANTERBURY and accepted by CDR Jim Gilmour and WO2 Jack Noble.
- The CDR W.L.J. Smith Trophy for Support Force Excellence; awarded to the Maritime Operational Evaluation Team and accepted by WOYS David Carroll.
- The Chatham Rose Bowl for the most efficient Fleet unit overall; awarded to HMNZS ENDEAVOUR and accepted by CDR David Toms and CPOSCS Grant Waho.
- The Naval Support Command Customer Service Trophy; awarded to the Naval Personnel Resource centre and accepted by WOMM Mick O’Carroll.
- The Naval Support Command Efficiency Trophy; awarded to the RNZN Band and accepted by LTCDR Keith Anderson.
