The rank of Commodore is denoted by a broad gold band. This denotation is unique in that the executive curl is detached to form a circle just above the band. A Commodore's cap features two sets of gold embroidered leaves. In the RNZN there are only four or five officers who hold this rank. Positions include Deputy Chief of Navy and Maritime Component Commander.
