Operation Pukaurua Draws To A Close
5 July 2013
Operation Pukaurua draws to a close this week, with the NZDF, Australian, Canadian and US Defence Forces having already cleared over 2000 items of unexploded World War Two ordnance in the Solomon Island’s Town of Munda. The local population have been extremely helpful in identifying the locations of ordnance, and this morning one of the NZDF teams were led deep into the jungle to this unexploded shell. Inspecting the shell prior to clearance are Air Force’s SGT Michael Hartley, Navy’s CPODVR Rangi Ehu and Army’s CPL Corey Dunnett.
