Navy ships homeward bound

HMNZS Te Kaha and Endevour attending the Canadian Fleet review.

HMNZS TE KAHA at  the Canadian Navy’s 100th anniversary celebrations (WN 10-0145-006).

After a four and a half months overseas deployment the sailors onboard warship HMNZS TE KAHA and tanker HMNZS ENDEAVOUR will arrive home to be reunited with their family and friends at the Devonport Naval Base at 9:45 am on Wednesday 11 August 2010.

The past four and a half months have seen TE KAHA and ENDEAVOUR take part in EXERCISE BERSAMA SHIELD off Singapore.

The two ships were part of the Canadian Navy’s 100th Anniversary celebrations which included an International Fleet Review. The ships then visited ports on the west coast of Canada and the United States of America. TE KAHA was also in Shanghai for the World Expo in May.

Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Tony Parr and the Maritime Component Commander, Commodore Ross Smith will be in attendance at the base to welcome the ships home. TE KAHA will fire a 17-gun salute to the Chief of Navy’s Personal Flag at approx 9:35 am on 11 August and PHILOMEL will return a 7-gun salute.


The New Zealand Defence Force defends New Zealand, and supports New Zealand’s wider security interests.
