October 2009 - Wellington Naval and Army Reserves Say Thank You to Employers
On the 30th of October the Commanding Officers of HMNZS OLPHERT Naval Reserve Unit and Bravo Company of Seven Battalion of the Wellington and Hawkes Bay Regiment, had the pleasure of hosting the Employers of Navy, Army and Airforce Reserve Personnel to a Regional Awards Evening and Dinner at the historic Wellesley Boutique Hotel.
This gave them an opportunity to say thank you to the Employers attending in a very practical way, and recognize the valued and ongoing contribution the Employers make in supporting their employees undertaking a range of Military training and operational duties over the past year, including overseas deployments.

It was a fitting occasion for the Reserve Personnel attending to also give their Employers an insight into aspects of their other military life, and share with their Employers some of the unique hospitality and dining etiquette of the Armed Services.
Regional Employer Awards were presented by John Spence, the Chairman of the Wellington Regional Defence Employer Support Committee on behalf of both the Territorial Force Employer Support Council and the NZ Defence Force, and these included an Award to the Anglican Church, in recognition of the arrangements for HMNZS OLPHERT Chaplain Bob Peters to undertake both an operational posting to the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands and a supplementation posting in Auckland.
