April 2010 - Wellington Naval Reserves stand up for ANZAC Day
In a rare honour, Sailors including Leading Weapon's Technician Nicholas Shearer from HMNZS OLPHERT were invited to participate in the NZDF Tri Service Ceremonial Guard at the National War Memorial Wellington, and acquitted themselves with distinction.
Also for the first time in recent years, members of the Ships Company, lead by the CO LTCDR Ian Wells, were invited to represent the NZDF in the Johnsonville ANZAC Day Parade and Wreathlaying along side members of the other Services and representatives of the US Marines. HMNZS OLPHERT's Chaplain the Reverend Bob Peters was also invited to give an ANZAC Day address at the service and spoke of the sacrifices of NZ Servicemen and Women past and present.
