Trade Training School driven by Reservists
Civilians by day, Military by night. Four reservists, three from HMNZS Olphert: CPOET Grant Cossar, POET Nic Shearer, OSCS Jason Young and one from 2CSSB LCPL Patrick Krippner are employed by the Trade Training School (TTS), based in Trentham Military Camp as Electronics Instructors. TTS has been nominated for the 2015 Employer of the Year awards.
We run NZ Army courses throughout the year and train Technicians to a high standard in the field of Electronics and Instruments, similar to the Navy ET trade – pictured below is the Seniors Course with the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV), a specialised piece of kit with complex control systems on board. The four reservist instructors are standing on the LAV ramp, with three students sitting on top. We are highly skilled staff with relevant tertiary qualifications, and some have honours degrees.
The Junior Electronics course currently has the academic training done in Devonport (AET Phase 1), and the soldering & cabling component in Woodbourne RNZAF base, at the Ground Training Wing (GTW). This highlights the amalgamation of tri-service training looking towards Future 35.
