The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) is an adventurous and dynamic organisation with personnel deploying around the world. This can be either on RNZN ships or on deployments with the Army and Air Force to our missions in places such as Afghanistan, the Middle East and Timor Leste.
The RNZN represents New Zealand all around the world and as well as operational deployments, we participate in sporting events, exchanges with other nations' military, cultural events, performances and Guards of Honour for visiting dignitaries.
Being in the Navy is not an everyday job and RNZN personnel often find themselves in interesting and diverse situations, as well as travelling to locations that most people would not be able to go. Some of these situations have been captured by Naval photographers or by our personnel themselves.
Royal New Zealand Navy ships patrol our waters and those waters for which we are responsible. The RNZN has at least one ship maintaining full operational readiness to deploy at all times.
