Navy 70th Anniversary

Saturday 1 October marked the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1941. To celebrate the anniversary the Navy held a ceremonial changing of the Queen's Colour at Parliament Grounds, and paraded through Wellington, with drums beating, band playing, colours flying, bayonets fixed and swords drawn. Eleven ships also converged on Wellington Harbour for a fleet concentration, public display and finally an entire fleet review.
