Employment

Entry into the Band
Entry into the Band is subject to passing an audition by the Navy's Director of Music. To be eligible you must be a competent performer on at least one military band instrument, with professional music performance experience or be a graduate of a tertiary education (music) establishment such as a polytech or university. View samples of our Audition Packs. Please note that they are examples only.

Instrumental specialists (for example soloists), and multi-instrumental players, are the type of musicians we seek to employ in the Navy Band currently. The job is so varied that these are the skills we need as a small band to keep up with the demands of the ever-changing Navy schedule.

  • be at least 17 years of age on day of entry
  • have a thorough medical assessment
