Ensembles
Brass group
There are two Brass Ensembles in the Navy Band.
The Brass Quintet is based on the famous Canadian Brass Quintet. It consists of two Trumpets, a French Horn, a Trombone and a Tuba. Its purpose is to provide a wide variety of quality brass music for occasions and functions where space is limited and a palette of styles is required; for example our styles range from serious, formal and ceremonial to hymns, incidental and pop music. We play at dinners, church services and out amongst an appreciative public.
The Large Brass Ensemble consists of three Trumpets, a French Horn, three Trombones, a Euphonium, a Tuba, and two Percussionists. This band plays in similar settings to the Brass Quintet, but we play mainly our own arrangements. The sound we produce is so rich and big we can play comfortably in a concert setting.
The Brass Group leader is Steve Packer POMUS.
