AMUS Jonathan Franklin

Although Jonny was born in Auckland in 1980, he spent a large portion of his early years growing up in Texas, USA. It was here he first showed an interest in music, learning Piano with an elderly lady who lived down the street. This then this led onto playing the Saxophone. Then Jonny was introduced to Jazz and was quickly converted to the swing cause.
Upon his return to New Zealand, he began his BMus (Jazz Studies) at Auckland University, which he was to complete some years later after a short break.
Originally joining the RNZN Band in 1999, Jonny returns to us after a two year reprieve.
During this time he has established himself as a uniquely talented musician, employed both in North Carolina and Japan doing studio work and scoring for productions and documentaries.
He currently performs with the Rodger Fox Big Band, and various covers bands.
Jonny is engaged to his girlfriend of five years, Belinda.
