AMUS Craig Rhodes

Craig was born and bred in Wanganui. He started playing at the age of thirteen at Wanganui Boys College. After joining a local Junior Brass Band he progressed through to the Senior Band. Playing with this band took Craig all over NZ as well as to the other side of the world. In 1993 the Band was invited to perform a marching display at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which was "an awesome experience".
Craig was a member of the RNZAF Base Ohakea Band for nearly thirteen years, after joining in April 1990 at the age of seventeen. He had many fun times, as people do as a territorial. In 1996 Craig was promoted to Corporal and in 2003 decided to broaden his horizons and join the Navy Band as a fulltime musician.
He has a wife and three children, two girls and a boy. Craig and his family enjoy the lifestyle change they encountered in moving to Auckland. There is always plenty for them to do.
