LMUS Craig Simpson

Instruments: Saxophones/Clarinet/Flute/Keyboard
Qualifications: B. Mus. (Hons) Performance (Massey Wellington)

Craig was born and raised in a wee town called Hokitika in 1981. He attended local schools until 1999, when he moved to Wellington to pursue a music degree from Massey University. After graduating, he had a short stint on a cruise ship before he decided to join the Navy Band on 13 June 2003.

For Craig, this was a great opportunity to continue studying music as well as to perform all over the country. Craig has taken over leadership of the RNZN Big Band since joining, and he has also performed and recorded with many local bands, including the Rodger Fox Big Band, Springfield and Martini and the Shakers.
