IPV Background

HAWEA project team with keel in background (MC 06-0686-02).

Four IPVs have been built at Whangarei.  They will conduct maritime surveillance in support of civil agencies in the littoral area to approx 200 nautical miles offshore.

The IPVs are based on a Tenix-designed search and rescue vessel in service with the Philippines Coast Guard. Particulars of the IPV are:

Length overall: 55 metres
Beam:             9 metres
Speed:            25 knots
Range:            3,000 nautical miles

  • IPV4 - Taupo - affiliated to Northland/ Whangarei region
