Oct 15th 2007 - LET Luke Mason
Hi, my name is Luke Mason. I am a Leading Electronic Technician and I am currently the Computer Local Area Network administrator onboard HMNZS RESOLUTION.

I have been on ‘RESO’ since the start of last year and still have a few months to go on my tour of duty. I joined the Navy in May of 2000 and my first sea deployment was on HMNZS TE KAHA in 2001. Since then I have spent time on old ship CANTERBURY and HMNZS TE MANA was my previous post before joining RESOLUTION.
Some of my career highlights so far have included an operational deployment to Antarctica at the start of 2004 as part of the ship offload team. It was an absolutely breathtaking place and I feel very lucky to be one of the few to have had the opportunity to have gone there. The trip on TE MANA in 2005 was also fantastic to visit countries like China and be able to walk on the Great Wall, visit the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. There were also port visits to Vladivostok in Russia and Nagoya in Japan. What can I say it was a great trip!
Highlights on ‘RESO’ have included a survey focus, having Satellite TV, retaining the inter-mess trophy and more importantly completion of the NBCDI’s course. I look forward to doing my POET professionals course next year and more importantly the possibility of going to Afghanistan next year.
