Galley

The Galley of Te Kaha with food, trays and a foil covered pot

With a ships company of around 175 people, the kitchen needs to prepare at least 525 nutritious meals a day (and more during periods of high operational activity). Meals still require preparing during action stations, extreme weather and when in port. The Galley also produces meals in the early hours of the morning, to satisfy hungry sailors on watch.

The Galley consists of a food preparation area and the kitchen itself.  Typically there is a complement of 9 Chefs and 4 Stewards onboard an ANZAC frigate.
