Machinery Control Room

The Machinery Control Room (MCR) is the heart of the ship. It provides all the services essential for the ship to function. The MCR is where the engineers control and monitor the ship’s propulsion, generation and auxiliary engineering systems. The MCR is the central area for Marine Engineer Officers and Marine Technicians. In warlike or emergency situations it is also the centre where action against damage, fires and floods is coordinated from. Actions taken by the Damage Control Areas are directed from the Machinery Control Room.
