Sea Sprite Helicopter
The five Sea Sprite helicopters of the RNZN each weigh six tonnes and have two 1600hp turbines. They carry a crew of three, with up to five passengers; they can be armed with a combination of torpedos, depth charges, air to surface missiles and a machine gun.
The Sea Sprite's sophisticated radar and infrared sensors increase a frigate's surveillance range significantly, and they are invaluable for search and rescue missions, allowing contacts to be identified day or night.
